Waterbottle

Since Brianna is almost one year old, I'm trying to get her off of the bottle (for dental health). She's not nuts about sippy cups. So we're trying real waterbottles. I'm just putting water in there so far, since I don't want to waste breastmilk. And she would definitely waste it, since half the water ends up dripping down her front. But she's having fun learning.

Definately try the sippy cup like Addison's with the straw. That is the ONLY sippy cup she will drink out of. But the down side is, there can only be water in there. So, we still have the bottle!

When my girls switched over, we started them with these sippies that have a rubber top that really resembled the nipple on a bottle. That worked well as a transition. I got them at Wal-Mart. My girls also loved (and still do) drinking out of water bottles. My sister has her kids just start drinking out of a normal plastic cup at 1. She only gives them water in it, but it is pretty impressive at how quickly they pick up the concept (although they still like to dump the water out . . .)
Good luck!! :)

Ok I will defintiley come to you for advice when I have kids...it seems like you have already tried out so much stuff. Are you just reading tons of books that tell you when to do everything (like when to take a kid off a bottle)? You guys seem like great parents Chelsea.

Awesome! Love the pj's too. My kids live in pjs and diapers. I had Noah in a speech therapy class when he was 18 months old till he was about 2 1/2. They suggested teaching them how to drink out of a straw early on. It helps them develop muscles that help them speak. Also, forming their mouths around cups helps develop those speech muscles as well. They suggested using sippies with spouts that are shaped like real cups. TMI? There are soooo many things to be worried about. Basically, all that matters is that they get the fluids they need. Right?

Madeline loves the Nuby sippy cups. They seem to resemble a bottle a little bit with the soft spout. Hey, whatever works. I'm sure she'll learn the water bottle in no time! Are you planning to breastfeed after she's one? You'll have to let me know how the whole milk goes. Madeline loves it, but some of her friends don't want anything to do with it. It's funny how kids at this age area already getting picky and opinionated. (funny for their moms, too..) :)
