We be grillin

Mere and Dad helped me get this lovely ensemble out on the grill for Brian's bday dinner....

YUM!!

And Brianna devoured an entire skewer of veggies! So proud of my good little eater.
More birthday posts to come. Brian said it was his BEST bday ever!!

Cruisin w/ Mere

Aunt Meredith takes the kids on outings! We LOVE it!
Even though the carseat straps aren't quite right... I'll have a talkin-to with her bout that....
Man, I love living near family now! So great!

Wavvy

Mere did two inside-out french braids friday night and I just took them out this morning.

Crazy waves!

New home!

It's a bit of a fixer-upper, but the view is fantastic....

Packy : assignment.

Brianna's K class takes turns each weekend bringing this stuffed elephant home and writing about adventures with him.
I bet no one else even thought that what Packy would like most is a cruise in a pink convertible...

The house hunt is OVER!

I can finally throw away the stacks of spec sheets and fliers we've collected from the dozens of homes we've checked out....

Because we found the one we want!

And we made an offer!

And they accepted!

And we close in a couple weeks!
Yay!!!
Fotos de la casa are forthcoming.

The new-old Colbert Store

This place didn't have a good rep when I was growing up here....
But new owners have remodeled and re-branded!

Now its a super cute country store.
.99 cones!

At Merryglen Cleanup Day

These ninos didn't do much of the cleanup work.... but others sure did! It was great to see so many out volunteering to cleanup the grounds at Merryglen, where my Sammy and her 15 special friends live.
Mom and I provided lunch for all the workers.
This included 10 large Colbert-store-homemade pizzas.... one for Brian, 9 for the other 30 volunteers.
:)

Train restaurant with Aunt Meredith

Mere is more generous than I.... she's already taken my kids out to eat more in the 3 weeks we've been here than I have in the last year or so!

Bennett tried to harvest Papa's veggie garden a little too early....

My heart sunk today when my Dad called me down from our apartment telling me that all the plants in his garden had been pulled up.
I knew it either had to be the fault of my mom, or my twins.
And since mom doesn't like to get her hands dirty.... had to be the twins.
Which is then also MY fault, since obviously I wasn't watching them while it happened.
And I NEED to be watching them. 24/7. Somehow.
Ugh.
WHY MUST THEY BE SO DESTRUCTIVE?!?!
Yeah, they're 3 year olds... but c'mon... it's so hard keeping them from terrorizing everything in their paths. It's like they wake up each morning and plot out how they're going to make my life harder.

We figured that Bennett was primarily responsible for this particular bout of devastation, so he got to go with Papa to Big R, buy new vegetable plants, and help re-plant them. I hopehopehope he learned a lesson somehow, and this won't happen again. I know I sure learned some lessons:  that my dad is very patient and forgiving!
And that I need to find the toddler leashes and go back to tying the twins down again....

They kinda look cute though down there together digging in the dirt, don't they?!
This is the view from the apartment attached to their house that we get to stay in.

CarNappers

Now that we live outside our little bubble of walkableness (spell check is saying that's not a word... silly spellcheck), we have to do a lot more driving. That's probably one of the main things I miss about Bountiful, and where we lived.... so walkable. The store, school, church, stores, etc....
Saved a lot of money by not using my car hardly ever.
I definitely enjoyed it while it lasted! But at least now the twins will NAP!

Bus rider

Her stop is a full half mile from Nonny and Papa's!
So it's a darn good workout walking there and back 2x/day, pushing the stroller with the others, up and down the steep hills. Unless I'm feeling lazy and choose to drive :)
The nearest elementary was full, so she gets shuttled to the next closest.
I asked if she likes riding the bus and she says yes!
Though if we were homeschooling, we could be DONE in the time she spends in transit....
Why do i feel guilty for not homeschooling?
Cuz I totally do.
Just cant pinpoint exactly why...

House hunting heat

One of the homes we checked out with our realtor yesterday was a little odd...
It had a sauna, just right downstairs in a bedroom corner.
Weeeirrrd.
