Cancel my half marathon plans next month.

Last night I tripped outside and fell on some sharp rocks. I got two large lacerations on my right knee and small scrapes and cuts on my other leg and elbows. I saw my knee cap. We spent all night at the ER. I got 22 stitches. One gauge was 5 cm long and one inch deep, the other 4 cm in a hockey stick shape and a half inch deep. I'm so grateful to my friends and neighbors who came right away to help with the kids. My patella tendon has a large tear. Brian took a picture. If anyone wants to throw up I'll send it to ya. I'm in a stiff knee brace and crutches for the next few weeks. I never realized how nice being able to bend my knee is until I couldn't do it anymore. The fall and the anesthesia needles were the most painful experiences of my life. But I'm not in pain anymore - just completely uncomfortable and totally helpless. Brian can take a little time off work. Kindof.  But really... I don't know what I'm going to do. I hate.hate.hate. that my clutziness is going to be a burden on others.
I'm grateful I don't have stairs in my house.
I also cracked my cell phone and broke my thumb nail.

That's horrible! I hope your family and friends can come to your aid. So so sorry! Can't imagine how tricky that will be with your busy life now

Oh no! This is not good. I'm so so sorry! I really wish I were closer. I'd bring you food, do your laundry, play with Brianna, hold babies, change diapers.... I will have to settle with praying that your ward members and neighbors get inspired with those ideas. My heart goes out to you!

Crystal - Brian brought my pump to the hospital, I made about 10 oz, then our neighbor brought the milk home to the babies. That held them off til I got home 3 hours later.
Tommy & Brit - a sign and a lesson? That I should just stay home all day on my butt just because I have babies even though I was feeling perfectly fine? Accidents can happen to anyone at anytime while doing anything.
Amy - please move here. Now. Thankyou :)

That is so sad! I hope you can continue to get help with your little ones (and yourself!)!

I'm so sorry! What horrible timing. (although there's never a good time to injure yourself.) I know its hard to be helpless and depend on others. I know for sure your friends and neighbors WANT to help, so it's ok. I wish I could come help! Here's hoping to a quick recovery and easy going kids. Good luck. I'll pray for you :)

Oh my heck! Ouch!!! So sorry!! I know what it's like to be a clutz ... I broke my foot on the last stair last year. It's no fun not being able to move around, I imagine with 2 newborns and an active toddler it's even harder. Hope you get better soon! (and please don't share that picture with me ... I'm getting sick just thinking about it ... ewww)

I am so sorry! Glad that Brian can take some time off to help you out at home until you can figure out what you are doing (without a bendable knee and everything). The worst part about this story is that you broke your nail!!! Just kidding!

Dang gina. That's lame. Crutches and twins! You're a saint and so are your family and friends!

Oh, I am so sorry, Chelsea. That is all you needed to add to the stress of two little ones and a toddler. I can't believe how deep the cuts are.

Are you kidding? You must be one tough lady to keep rolling with the punches lately. I'll be back in town in less than two weeks, you can count on my help!

It is truly sucktastic for sure. I am so sorry that this happened. And know that we all feel for you and that we will do anything at anytime to help you. People love to help because we have all had hard times in our lives where people saved our butts and made us feel cared for. You'll have plenty of chances to pay it forward, don't worry. For now, just know that you have tons of friends who WANT to help you. :)

Chelsea! OUCH! That really stinks! I'm so sorry about your knee! I so wish I lived closer so I could come help you with your kids and your laundry and cleaning and cooking or just to let you vent! Brianna is just the cutest, sweetest little gal! Your babies are darling! I hope all of your hard work taking care of your body pays off and you heal fast!
