Family pose

Brianna thinks her hand tastes good, so we decided to try ours too.
This was on Saturday right after the Orem 5K - my 9th fun run/race post-delivery! Brian and Brianna have been at almost every one to cheer me on.
They have to wait a bit longer to see me cross the finish line than they used to....

That is a cute picture, John has only come to one of my 5k races, maybe I will tell him Brian is going and he will get motivated. That is great that you are running, you look great and you look like you are having a lot of fun, especially riding with no hands on the bike.

How long did you wait after Brianna to start running again? I'm anxious about waiting the recommended 6 weeks. That seems a bit ridiculous. With my other kids I never had a routine like I do now, and I don't want to lose it. Any advice?

Amy - my first run was 18 days post-delivery. I had run everyday til 7 months, then did elliptical/weights/swimming til delivery. I asked my doc at my 2 week appt if I could start running, and he said no... but i told him that I had been speed-walking on the treadmill and doing weights at home, then he said it would be ok, but to go slow. Ha! Not that I had a choice! (see archive for post about that). Since I had a c-section, I had to be careful about working out too hard - my incision was really sore. I couldnt do situps til about 7 or 8 weeks after. Youre lucky you get to do normal births - youll have no trouble getting back in shape! Especially since I know how dedicated you are to being healthy. Seriously - youre one of the most beautiful pregnant women Ive ever seen - you totally glow.

Thanks Chelsea! How sweet. I guess I'll just listen to my body like you did, and not work it too hard. I'm grateful for your advice! I admire people like you who have life long healthy habits. Its not something common in my family, so it's a whole new world and I love it. Thanks for being my inspiration!
