Brianna and the horsies

[pardon the cruddy pic - cameraphone]
Brianna loves to go across the street to the Western Park rodeo grounds when the horses are in town. We bring snacks for them (shhh, don't tell - we're probably not supposed to) and she giggles gleefully at each bite.
But I'm really ticked. There are two horses stalls with EVICTION notices on them. The explanation is obvious - the poor creatures are nearly knee-high in droppings, with matted nasty manes to match. Those WT owners... probably driving around in $50K trucks, but too lazy to care for horses they shouldn't even be allowed to own (yes I'm being judgmental =P ) I wish there was an equestrian branch of DCFS in Utah. I'd totally turn them in. Then become their foster-parent. Brianna would be in heaven.

Report those horse abusers! Or slip over in the dark of night and put them in YOUR backyard, solicit food donations, etc. and go on the internet to learn how to care for them. Build 'um up, then sell 'um to those who would welcome 'um. Or start a stable and show the locals how to be thoughtful conscientious pet owners. Make me proud!

So are you asking what a Pediatric Occupational Therapist is???? If so. Let me explain:

PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
by Teri Allen, OTR

Occupational therapists are trained to assist people of all ages to perform the functional tasks that normally occupy their
lives. The occupation of childhood is to develop the skills necessary to become functional and independent adults. These
skills include: -Regulation of arousal level in order to attend.
-Refinement of sensory discrimination and processing.
Continual refinement and development of motor skills.
Development of communication skills.
Appropriate social interactions.
Language and cognitive skills.
Age appropriate self care skills.
Self concept.

Play is the media most often used in the Occupational therapist's treatment of children. It is highly motivating and a
natural media used by all children. Education and involvement of the family is usually a primary consideration and may be
critical to success.

The educational background (requires a Masters Level of Higher Degree) of Occupational therapists includes extensive course work in anatomy, neurology and
psychology. Their education also includes course work in activity analysis. This enables the therapist to analyze the
components of a play or work activity choosing tasks that will improve the child's basic skills.

Sorry...I am a bid advocate for my profession. :) Everyone who do not have kids with special needs figure we are Physical Therapists..

How do you evict a horse? Strange. I agree, people who aren't planning on taking care of their pets shouldn't have them!
